The Iron Cross and The Waterfall

This post is just to catalogue a few adventures closer to home (the Kartause).

During the week after Salzburg and before Vienna, I took a hike up Book Mountain with some friends.  Why the name Book Mountain?  At the top of this mountain, there is a book which those who climb register their names in.  I have not gotten up to the top to sign the book yet, but I will before the semester is over.  :)  We hiked to the halfway point: the Iron Cross.
Here are some pictures of the hike up.

My household back on main campus is called "Warriors of the Word," and we have a thing for swords.  So when I saw this cross that is meant to be placed in the ground, that looks legitimately like a sword, too, I got super excited.  Haha!  "It's a freakin' sword!!"

After Vienna, on a gorgeous spring day, I went with three good friends of mine to the Iron Cross again.  It was such a nice day that we didn't want to let it slip away without enjoying the beauty of nature.

I have to say, while very fun, the hike was tiring.  I always seem to end up far behind everyone else.  Heh.

"Man, am I outta shape!"

But adventures are about getting out there and getting tired by having fun.
And getting to the Cross was totally worth it!  Such a great moment, and so many wonderful pictures. :)  Memories are wonderful things.

"Bless the Lord, my soul, and bless His holy name.  Bless the Lord, my soul, Who leads me into light."

The weekend after Vienna, I stayed back in Gaming due to several tentative plans falling through.  But God had a plan in all of it.  Had I not stayed back, I wouldn't have been available for a Skype interview for a job possibility for the summer, which I was accepted for!! Praise the Lord!  I'm excited and looking forward to new adventures this summer.
On the Friday of that weekend, we decided to take a hike out to the waterfall.  Well, this ended up being more than a hike to the waterfall because we took a wrong turn and kept going up and up and up the mountain until we finally came to a barrier that wouldn't allow us to go any further.  So we turned back, and found the right crossroads, and the right path to the waterfall.  We were walking for 2 1/2 hours, so my legs were none to happy towards the end, but it was a grand adventure nonetheless.  :)

So, heh, funny story.  There was a sign on the tree by the path down to the place where we found this little grotto of sorts.  Come to find out later, that, in German, that sign meant: No trespassing.  Oops. But it was pretty!!

As we were hiking the final stretch to the waterfall, I was feeling really tired and sore; but as soon as I saw the waterfall, I got an inexplicable burst of energy and ran down to the base of it.  Haha!  I would have loved to jump in and gotten wet, but it was really cold down there, so I thought that probably wasn't a wise idea.  I want to go back once it's warmer, though, and jump in the water.

This is my little friend, Gaming, who I bought in a school supplies' store the day before.  He came to the waterfall with me.

COMING SOON! ROME AND ASSISI PILGRIMAGE!!
